NEET UG Syllabus 2026

The NEET UG 2026 syllabus has been released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is followed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for conducting the examination. The syllabus is primarily based on Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates preparing for NEET should study strictly according to the prescribed syllabus to avoid unnecessary topics and focus on high-yield concepts.

Class 11 Physics Topics

Physics and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work Energy and Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves.

Class 12 Physics Topics

Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves, Ray Optics, Wave Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms, Nuclei, Semiconductor Electronics and Experimental Skills.

Physics requires strong numerical practice and conceptual clarity. Questions are generally asked from both Class 11 and Class 12 portions.

Physical Chemistry

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Chemical Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Solutions, Electrochemistry and Chemical Kinetics.

Inorganic Chemistry

Classification of Elements and Periodicity, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Hydrogen, s-Block Elements, p-Block Elements, d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds and Metallurgy.

Organic Chemistry

General Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes and Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Biomolecules, Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday Life.

Chemistry includes a balanced mix of conceptual, theoretical and reaction-based questions.

Class 11 Biology Topics

The Living World, Biological Classification, Plant Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Morphology of Flowering Plants, Anatomy of Flowering Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Biomolecules, Cell Cycle and Cell Division, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Plant Growth and Development, Human Physiology.

Class 12 Biology Topics

Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Human Health and Disease, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Organisms and Populations, Ecosystem, Biodiversity and Conservation, Environmental Issues.

Biology is the most important subject in NEET and contributes 50% of the total questions in the examination.

Physics

Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Ray Optics, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Semiconductor Electronics.

Chemistry

Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Organic Reaction Mechanisms.

Biology

These chapters consistently contribute a significant number of questions and should be prioritized during revision.

Start with NCERT textbooks and complete all chapters thoroughly. Focus heavily on Biology as it carries the highest weightage. Create short notes, revise regularly, solve previous year questions, and attempt full-length mock tests. Consistent revision and practice are essential for scoring well in NEET UG.
